Brawl at Bourbon Street's Fight Card Takes Shape!
March 17th, 2011
Merrionette Park, Illinois (IL) -- With less than one week until another epic Brawl at Bourbon Street, the fight card has taken shape! Many wondered how we could possible come up with a card better than the last one at Bourbon Street which featured a legendary main event between Eric Rasmussen and Rich Molina for the 155lb title. Never one to rest on his past accomplishments, matchmaker Cutthroat Tony outdid himself with another explosive stacked card featuring two title fights with the best of the best in amateur Mixed Martial Arts fighting.
For the main event, 170lb CutThroat MMA Champion TJ Rowley (Team One) defends his belt from Ryan Storey (Team Colon). The last time these two met Storey came out on the losing side of a close decision in January of 2010. TJ Rowley then went on to earn the welterweight champion belt by tearing through a CutThroat MMA four man tournament. Storey went on to earn more impressive victories and is on the cusp of turning pro, however he has one item on his amateur list left to accomplish and has not been shy about declaring it. He wants to avenge his loss to Rowley and take home the prestigious CutThroat welterweight title. TJ Rowley plans to clean out the amateur 170 division and Storey is the first on his hit list. This one has fireworks written all over it!
In the co-main event, 205lb CutThroat MMA Champion Bill Johnson (Torres Martial Arts) defends his title from David Booth (Hawaiian Kempo). Both of these fighters bring perfect undefeated records into the cage. Bill Johnson is looking for a repeat of his first title defense which ended in a TKO win over of the highly regarded Jerry George. David Booth is coming off an impressive win of the athletically gifted Matt Graham in which he showed his high level submission ability by catching Graham in a unbreakable perfect triangle choke. The light-heavyweights always put on a brutal show and this one will be no exception!
Also featured on this card, Louis Robles (NoComment) makes his CutThroat MMA debut taking on Bobby Moffit (Randori Jiu-Jitsu). Louis Robles is the reigning 155lb Champion of Power Fights (promotes shows out of Sandwich Illinois). Robles faces a tough test in Moffit who has already been battle tested with impressive wins over Savanok (Olympian Centre) and Dipompeo (G2). Moffit would definitely be a contender for a title shot by adding a rival champion to his already impressive list of victories over fighters from the best camps in the area. CutThroat MMA Championship belts are known among the most prestigious in the Midwest and Robles wants the chance to prove he is more than a paper champion and is eager for the exposure that would come from a title run for a premium belt with a premium promotion.
Also featured will be: Jerry George (Bloody Knuckles), Jimmy Moreno (Patriot Boxing), Derek Malert (Team Immortal), Chris Hill (Patriot Boxing), Mike Petersen (SKT), Tim Williams (Victory), Bobby Andrews (Victory), Spencer Debendetti (Victory), Kyle Geary (SKT), Jake Frias and more!

Brawl at Bourbon Street... another legendary night!
March 24th, 2011
Merrionette Park, Illinois (IL) -- CutThroat MMA produces another legendary night of fights at the fan favorite Brawl at Bourbon Street! In front of another packed house on a Wednesday night, the rowdy and vocal CutThroat MMA fans were treated to an explosive night of fights that were capped off with an epic five round war for the light heavyweight belt and a highly anticipated match for the welterweight title.
At the end of the night, two new champions stood victoriously in the middle of the cage and an eager contender for the lightweight title proved why he should be next in line for a title shot!
The anticipation of the main event was clearly evident as the fans remained on their feet and pressed close to the cage to witness the rematch between two of the biggest stars of the CutThroat MMA 170lb amateur ranks. Days of trash-talking by both camps culminated as the two fighters stared across the cage ready to settle the score. As the two collided in the cage it quickly became clear that Storey's wrestling would the deciding factor on this night. Storey controlled Rowley for the bulk of the fight and at 1:45 of the second round TJ was forced to tap to a guillotine choke that Ryan secured from the mount. Ryan Storey from Team Colon found redemption as he earned the win and walked away as the new CutThroat MMA Welterweight Champion!
Easily the fight of the night, and definitely a fight of the year candidate, the co-main event turned into a brutal five found slug-fest with both fighters dishing out blows that rocked or dropped both very game fighters. This was to be almost literally a David and Goliath match-up, as David Booth started the fight staring across at not only the much larger Bill Johnson out of the prestigious Torres MMA camp but also notable UFC fighter Miguel Torres in Johnson's corner. The reigning champion Bill Johnson dished out punishing uppercuts and combos to the smaller but eager David Booth. Booth took all that Johnson had to give and responded with his own shots dropping the champion twice. By the end of the fifth round, Johnson's face was showing the effects of the war and David Booth had a quickly swelling hand for his efforts. The judges awarded the split decision to David 'Baby Ruth' Booth who wore the CutThroat MMA Light Heavyweight Championship Belt proudly.
Earlier in the evening, Power Fight's current lightweight champion Luis Robles found out exactly how tough and deep the CutThroat ranks are when he ran into fifth ranked Bobby Moffit from Randori Jiu-Jitsu. Robles looked like he was ready to stand and bang when Moffit shot in for a takedown and in the ensuing scramble, secured Robles in his guard and quickly secured a fight ending armbar. Bobby made it known that he believes he should be the next in line for a shot at 155lb Champion Rasmussen.
CutThroat MMA plans to follow up with its next event on April 16th 2011 as it Invades the massive dome at the Aurora Sports Zone, in what will be a can't miss event!
